Courtyard apartments are all light or all shade, and this one was all light between seven and ten in the morning. We planned the whole apartment around that hour: a rust velvet chair in the bay for coffee, warm white walls that catch the gold without turning yellow, and a galley kitchen in pale green that stays cool once the sun has moved on.
The bedroom keeps its bay and gets striped linen and nothing else. Everything is small, and everything faces the same way.
