Lake light is northeast light: even, blue and relentless. The apartment had been painted bright white and felt like an office. We warmed the walls to a pale gray with a little red in it, brought the furniture low so the windows read as walls of sky, and used one dark honed stone in the kitchen to give the eye somewhere to rest.
The bedroom keeps the view and gets white linen and two wall lights on dimmers for the hours the lake goes dark.
