The cottage had a kitchen the size of a hallway and a skylight nobody had cleaned in a decade. We cleaned it, cut a second window over the sink to face the morning, and painted the ceiling a soft clay red so the skylight's white light lands on something warm.
A built-in bench under the window makes a dining nook out of nothing, and the pantry got open oak shelves because a small kitchen should show what it holds.
